By popular(?) demand, I am prematurely announcing a tutorial to help you create your very own version of BLaM#!. What you might ask is BLaM#! (Hmmm, now where do I place the question mark????)
Why BLaM#!
There are a number of reasons you might want to use BLaM#! including you:
- loved CrunchBang (#!) and you’d like to use a cool, new version or you simply want to recover a piece of your youth.
- want to use OpenBox.
- have a low-spec computing unit in need of refreshing.
- would like to benefit from either MX or antiX tools along with those from BunsenLabs.
- prefer having the option to choose a systemd or non-systemd init.
NOTE!
There is a new post & tutorial on creating a Bunsenlabs base non-systemd debian (antiX) install.
What is BLaM#!
Well, simply BLaM#! is built from a composite of three major building blocks (components). Yes, they are all Linux-based:
- BunsenLabs
- antiX
- MXLinux
BunsenLabs OpenBox desktop (BL) is the most widely used successor of Crunchbang (#!). These distro names form the BLaM#! in the name.
Unlike traditional Bunsenlabs, BLaM#! does not run on a vanilla Debian base but rather on one of two of my favorite Debian based distros (antiX or MXLinux). Now you have the rest of the acronym.
Here’s what BLaM#! looks like…
The BLaM#! Tutorial…
Be advised the software mentioned in the tutorial is not currently released. It is in either in experimental or beta status. I hope to update the tutorial when everything is released.
Use only released software for production purposes.
I have published a how-to tutorial on building your very own BLaM#! setup. It’s not difficult, even I can do it! If you want the build instructions, here they are, such as they exist. (BLaM#! Tutorial).
Enjoy!
